Early last summer we surveyed the membership to get a sense of who our membership are and what we all feel the branch and UCU generally should be campaigning on. The analysis of these results has taken far longer than anticipated, for all sorts of unexpected reasons, not least because coding hundreds of qualitative comments is time-consuming. Nevertheless, we are now in a position to report the headline figures to you. Please find a short report below. We plan to use this data to support our negotiations with senior management. One headline to note is that casualisation, pensions and pay are the most important issues for members that responded to the survey, followed by workload & teaching load, University governance, wellbeing, probation/promotion/progression, marketisation of HE, diversity/equality/inclusivity, and discrimination.
