In response to the Covid-19 crisis we have just surveyed our branch membership and we wanted to get the results out to you as soon as we possibly could, please read the results below.

On an individual level, we have also received a lot of deeply personal comments, that have really made clear to us just how much we all need each other right now, and how many serious and practical difficulties/concerns members (and their families) are facing.

We urgently needed to get a sense of how you, our membership, are coping in this crisis and what are the key issues we need to concentrate on to understand how we can best support you. This survey has provided crucial evidence that we can take to senior university management when we negotiate the practical help you need. We are doing all we can as a branch to support our members and improve things for you and this survey has helped us enormously. A huge thank you to all those members who completed the survey!

We wanted to let you know that the branch sits on two important groups the first is the top level “Covid-19 Student and staff experience and wellbeing group” chaired by the Provost Janice Kay, this group is the strategic group overseeing wellbeing for all the university community. We also sit on the “positive working environment group (PWE) wellbeing group”, chaired by Christian Carter (HR), this is the staff operational (getting things done on the ground!) group that feeds into the Covid-19 group. This allows us to have a direct line to senior management to ensure your concerns and issues are top of the agenda. This is, alongside the twice weekly meetings with the Head of HR and the Senior team. Our survey results will be shared with all these groups, to help ensure action is taken where it’s needed. We are very happy to be contacted at any time if you have any concerns and worries going forward, as we can act on these.
