Should we be reopening at all? It is sensible to plan an online welcome week and online teaching in the first two weeks of term along with restrictions of social activities among students where feasible. Details of testing and monitoring regimes should be determined in advance of campus opening, subject to consultation with UCU and other recognised trade unions.
EUCU (EGM) Branch Motion
The decisions to provide face-to-face (F2F) activity have been made without the union input. While we are waiting for the University's response on the UCU 5 tests, we are very keen to encourage all members to get actively involved in thinking and formulating the branch's approach based on the excellent Independent SAGE report, USS Brief and central UCU arguments. Please get in touch.
In the absence of responses and without a frame for negotiations before the start of the new academic year, and after consultation with the Branch Committee and UCU, we are formally lodging a formal claim for a collective agreement on a policy for the recording of teaching and learning activities. We look forward to a speedy response from HR.
There is a place dedicated to training and academic support. If you want discussions to happen in your College or Discipline, fill in the form with your best wish list. Ask College-run sessions where staff can ask general questions or air concerns freely in a collegiate way.
